Chinese influence is everywhere. You can even see them speak spanish and do construction projects in a country like Equatorial, Guinea. I was there in 2014 and I saw how motivated their country is in building relations and expanding their economy.
China is the world’s no.1 emitter of carbon dioxide and they are not slowing down. GDP projections dictates that they will be the world’s no.1 economy in a decade. In order to sustain a billion people economy, they need to acquire enough energy or more specifically - oil. That is why they are doing a gas exploration project with the Philippines with a ratio of 40:60 ratio in favor of our country. Sounds cool, right?
I am not infavor of this.
I don’t like this project for the strong net effect of to our climate. It clearly shows as well that our country is incapable of assessing the future of our country. I would argue that our vulnerability to the strong effects of climate change and rising sea levels this century is not being factored at all in our current government direction or even incoming politicians for the 2019 elections.
Even though I can’t change the current landscape of capitalism all around the world as it chooses to create profits first than preventing significant harm to humans and the biosphere..but at the very least I am exercising my abilities to convey the truth however crazy it may sound..
