I recently purchased a beast of a phone created by samsung. The galaxy note 9 is out for eight months already but I just acquired recently… probably two weeks ago.
It’s freaking beautiful - aesthetically and powerful because of its 6gb ram processor, Quad hd screeen and the remote control S-pen. The all purpose gadget I should say, I even use it to replicate awesome art for this blog. It is so damn well built, also with waterproofing. But this is not my favorite phone despite of it’s awesome improvement to my productive capacity.
This is my favorite smartphone to-date: Cherry Mobile Flare S6
Before I would explain my reasons for why I love this 80 USD android phone, let me put some context with its specs:
Here I think are the base specs of the phone which describes how medium ranged it is. But this phone have helped me a lot.
It is fast, but not fast enough to run graphics intensive aps like autodesk sketchbook or action frame intensive games. It is slow, but not slow enough to make me cringe. Very poor camera.
But why the hell I loved this phone? I love it because it does its job as a support phone. I have traveled history and the vast universe with it. LITERALLY!!! The succeeding paragraphs explains my journey with CM Flare S6.
It is so enough if your goal is to transact business and do studies. I ran a lot of Coursera and Udemy courses with this phone and I was fortunate enough to finish two coding courses (Yes. I have a standard laptop for the exercises and projects if your thinking of asking..) and a bunch of deepdives to dynamic online lectures about philosophy, astronomy, biology, climate science etc..It can power basic apps like kindle and audible. Play simple games like chess. Its enough. That is what I needed.
It’s lack of power in a way is a better thing as well. I then acquired a resistance to habits that I usually had. I used to love playing clash of clans and heartstone before but after diconnecting with tech that much…I started to realize that we really don’t need video games other than improving our hand eye coordination. It may sound too simplistic but when you compute the amount of time you waste in video games and multiply it by the hourly rate you earn.. you’ll be suprised. Also, I have seen people close to me just waste away their life because of the video game industry. This phone completely helped me in restricting these kinds of habits that is a downward spiral journey in itself.
I realized how powerful it was after I upgraded again to my favorite note series again. I hardly noticed the difference in performance - except the S-pen. Watching videos feels the same. Reading semms the same as well. Audible runs the same. Everything is the same except the S-pen. I’ll probably make another blog post about the s-pen in the future.
I could remember that after my Galaxy note 5 broke it’s screen and rendered me inaccessible and pacified. That is why I phoned my then business partner for the flare S6 which he have chosen from a location in the Capital of Palawan Islands. I had it out of necessity as staying in a Calibangbangan island is rather inaccessible to civilization and virtually no malls or stores nearby for any kind of technology.
I can imagine the rocks our ancestors used to live in the early days of our civilization. It doesn’t matter what kind of rock it is but as long as it can kill the prey or cut meat, it is the best rock in the world. And then there is this event that your favorite rock breaks during your hunt..
Why I created this post? I want to give another perspective in how we view our ways of using technology. Be resourceful pretty much sums this post up. Use the tool/s within your reach at the time you are starting to set yourself to combat the struggles of the world. You’ll be rather given a dull sword to fight for your life at times but the true warriors fight with all they got. It reveals as well our resourcefulness out of necessity which I think most of us don’t exercise anymore because of the overabundance of gadgets accessible through our purses.
A short story about the world greatest smartphone. I also gave this phone to my mom as a gift.:-)
